American Surgical Assistants, Inc. (ASA) is a healthcare professional services staffing firm with special emphasis on surgical assistant services. Utilization of our services is cost effective to patients, insurance carriers, hospitals, surgeons, and healthcare institutions. We offer an economically feasible alternative without compromise. Our objective is to become a nationwide leader in the surgical assistant sector of healthcare staffing. ASA is a Healthcare Staffing Firm certified by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (Joint Commission), ASA was the first surgical assistant staffing company to achieve such rewarding achievement in the nation.
Our staff and associates are currently credentialed and providing services to surgeons and patients at numerous hospitals and surgery centers. We market our services under the brand name ASA, Inc. We utilize the services of full time salaried employees, hourly employees and a smaller percentage of Independent Contractors. We do not currently utilize the services of temporary providers.
Services to patients of Medicare, Medicaid, Champus and many other insurers are non-billable. Most Carriers who adopt Medicare guidelines do not reimburse L.S.A.’s or C.S.A.’s.
Surgical assistants are compensated for their service regardless of the financial status of the patient. The percentage of such cases varies from one facility to another. Demographics, payer mix, number of operating rooms, man power requirements and case history, all factor into the fees we charge client institutions.
Surgical assistants are credentialed through an extensive process similar in many ways to that of physicians for credentialing purposes. These assistants are an integral part of the surgical team and provide their services to patients during surgical procedures, within the scope of their professional license and as instructed or delegated by the surgeon.
We believe that we will continue to attract and retain the highest quality professionals by offering attractive compensation packages, reimbursement for qualified educational expenses, and benefit packages.
Our clients utilize our services to effectively manage their surgical staffing needs without having to deal with fluctuations due to attrition, new unit openings, seasonal patient census variations, etc. Our business model was developed over more than twenty years of quality improvement and continued monitoring and of feed back from our clients.
